The Mayor of Nice, Christian Estrosi, has reversed his decision to ban large cruise ships on the French Riviera to prevent excessive tourism. Initially, he signed a decree in late January restricting ships with over 900 passengers from docking at Villefranche-sur-Mer starting in July. However, after facing opposition from local businesses and cruise industry stakeholders, he decided to revise the policy. A new proposal, scheduled for presentation on 7 March 2025, aims to balance public health priorities with support for the local economy.
