The Cool Noons project, launched in 2024 and co-financed by the European Union under the Interreg Euro-MED Programme, addresses the challenge of heatwaves impacting Mediterranean cities like Lisbon, Marseille, Imola, Dubrovnik, and Budva. Through a combination of technological and nature-based solutions, the project improves tourist comfort during the hottest parts of the day by creating walkable green corridors and bioclimatic shelters.
These initiatives were co-designed with local citizens and tourism stakeholders in participatory workshops, fostering a sustainable approach to urban tourism. As these cities establish networks of 15 mapped cool paths, they not only enhance the visitor experience but also set a precedent for practical solutions that can be replicated globally to counteract climate challenges. For more details on the project and implementation of these solutions, follow this link.
