According to Travel Tomorrow, supersonic travel is poised to return to commercial aviation following a successful test flight by a US start-up, Blake Scholl. On 28 January 2025, Boom Supersonic's XB-1 jet became the first American-made private supersonic aircraft to break the sound barrier, moving the company closer to commercialising the world's fastest airliner. This achievement is expected to transform air travel by making high-speed, supersonic flights accessible to everyone.
