Mediterranean tourism is undergoing a transformative shift, spearheaded by the Cross Network Alliance within the Interreg Euro-MED Dialogue4Tourism Project. This initiative introduces groundbreaking policy recommendations aimed at redefining tourism practices by emphasizing sustainability and resilience across 14 Mediterranean countries. Regional authorities, tourism businesses, and key stakeholders are empowered to align their goals with national strategies, enhancing crisis resilience and strengthening international collaboration.
A unique focus is placed on enabling Destination Management Organizations to pioneer sustainability efforts, with support from National Governments to legislate climate-positive tourism frameworks. Additionally, integrating technology for better data collection and predictive analysis is highlighted as essential for managing resources wisely. Educational programs further reinforce these initiatives by preparing future leaders to articulate and manage sustainable tourism strategies effectively.
