Bremen Tourism organises a variety of networking and exchange events throughout the year to inform and enable destination stakeholders on sustainability, digitalisation and AI topics. Apart from in-person meetings with key note speakers and workshops, a continuous digital communication about the twin transition takes place. As part of the renewed Tourism Strategy Bremen 2030+ we aim to continue with offering these networking and exchange events at least six times a year.

The LinkedIn channel “Bremen Tourism and Convention” features frequent posts about sustainability campaigns, events or developments in the destination, about new AI products (e.g. Chatbot, AR App) or digitalisation (e.g. digital campaigns, biking apps, social media channels). We aim to gain 3.500 followers by the end of 2027.

Moreover, a B2B newsletter for tourism actors that is distributed by Bremen Tourism on a regular basis addresses the trends, topics, events and networking opportunities regarding the twin transition.

To enable good practice sharing, a sustainability network for tourism actors has been established and is envisioned to be continued in the future. The exchange format is envisioned to contiue twice a year and focuses on a specific sustainability related topics in each session. The events not only serve capacity building but also display funding, support and consultation offers for tourism businesses, invite good-practice examples and allow for networking among tourism stakeholders. On this platform tourism actors from Bremen get the chance to present good-practice examples from their organisations and thus enable peer-to-peer learning, spread awareness and incentivise other actors to take similar actions. Topics of the sustainability network were for example sustainability communication, food waste in tourism, sustainable certification and sustainable mobility.

To further incentivise and motivate tourism actors, the Bremen and Bremerhaven Tourism Award has been awarded in four categories each in the years 2022 and 2023. The two award categories “Sustainability” and “Future” put a particular focus on leadership and innovation within twin transformation topics. In 2025 the DMOs of Bremen and Bremerhaven held a congress on the opportunities of the twin transition in tourism inviting keynotes, good practices and interactive workshops on the topic. The topic of sustainable transition is also envisioned to play a central part in the congress events in 2026 and 2027.
