Running until 31 December 2026, the campaign lets hotels and campsites apply for EU Ecolabel certification at half the usual fee. The Ecolabel recognises accommodation that performs well on energy and water use, waste management and food waste, helping operators cut running costs while reassuring increasingly climate-conscious guests.
The initiative follows a Commission webinar held in March 2026, where representatives from HOTREC and Booking.com discussed how certification can support both competitiveness and compliance with incoming sustainability-labelling rules. For destinations and SMEs working towards the green transition strand of the Transition Pathway for Tourism, the discount offers a concrete, time-limited incentive to formalise environmental improvements already under way.
