As travel continues to rebound, it is essential that tourism growth is aligned with climate goals, social balance, and long-term competitiveness.

TUI’s Policy Agenda sets out key priorities for addressing these challenges. With Science Based Targets-verified emissions reduction goals across its airlines, cruise operations, and hotels, TUI is actively contributing to the EU’s climate ambitions. Achieving these targets, however, requires coordinated political support—particularly in accelerating the availability of sustainable fuels, expanding green port and energy infrastructure, and incentivizing clean technologies.

The agenda also calls for improved destination management. In areas experiencing pressure from high visitor volumes, issues such as housing shortages and quality-of-life concerns demand collaborative solutions. Organized tourism plays a crucial role here: as a long-term partner with local presence and accountability, it supports infrastructure, spreads visitor flows, and helps develop new regions responsibly. TUI advocates for smart visitor management strategies—such as coordinated scheduling, intelligent ticketing and pricing systems, and regional diversification—to ease pressure on hotspots.

Finally, the reform of the EU Package Travel Directive must safeguard the strengths of organized travel. Package holidays offer consumers a high level of protection and operational resilience, especially in times of disruption. Future regulation should preserve these benefits while ensuring fair market conditions across the sector.
