The CULTURALITY project—short for “CULTUral heritage in RurAL remote areas for creative tourism and sustainabilITY”—was launched on 1 April 2024, with the aim of addressing social, cultural, economic, and environmental challenges in rural and remote areas by promoting cultural tourism and empowering local communities as agents of change.
Coordinated by the University of Oviedo in Spain, CULTURALITY brings together 13 organisations from 9 countries, fostering interdisciplinary collaboration in fields such as anthropology, ethnography, tourism, and digital innovation.
Running until 31 March 2028, and supported by EUR 2,444,223.75 in funding from the European Union, the project focuses on stakeholder engagement, training, applied research, and the development of digital resources—such as a virtual museum—to support sustainable development and the preservation of cultural heritage.
