UN Tourism (United Nations World Tourism Organization) has launched the Safe Destinations Challenge, an initiative aimed at identifying practical and innovative solutions that enhance the tourism sector’s capacity for resilience, safety, and sustainability in Europe and beyond. The initiative targets projects, tools, and ideas that improve crisis preparedness and management in three key areas:

  • Resilience to natural, climate-related, and health-related hazards in tourism destinations
  • Safety, security, and protection against cyber threats for tourists and destinations
  • Effective crisis communication

The challenge is open to start-ups, scale-ups, innovative micro and small to medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), local authorities, academic institutions, and tourism-related organisations working on solutions that support the physical, cultural, and economic stability of destinations.

Selected participants will gain access to a wide range of benefits, including:

  • The opportunity to present their solutions at the UN Tourism Tech Adventures
  • Mentorship from UN Tourism partners
  • Global visibility through media and UN Tourism platforms
  • Tailored support for project development
  • Opportunities to pilot or scale their solutions
  • Membership in the UN Tourism Innovation Network
  • Scholarship opportunities via the UN Tourism Online Academy

Applications are open until 31 October 2025. For more details, please visit the attached link.
