The International Federation of Robotics (IFR) publishes the annual World Robotics report, the most widely cited dataset on industrial robot installations, operational stock and robot density worldwide, used by national governments, the OECD and the United Nations as a policy benchmark.

The latest edition recorded 542,000 industrial robots installed worldwide in 2024 and an operational stock of 4,664,000 units, a figure that has more than doubled over the past decade. The EU-27 robot density stood at 231 robots per 10,000 employees, above the global average of 132, though this masks wide variation between Member States. For manufacturers and policymakers alike, the dataset is a practical way to benchmark a country's or sector's automation levels against European and global peers.
