As part of the Apply AI Strategy, the Commission is establishing a European Robotics Catalyst intended to unite end-user industries, robotics developers and researchers to accelerate AI-powered robotics across Europe, building on the existing AI, Data and Robotics Association (ADRA).

With over 90,000 industrial robots installed in 2023 and more than 400 service-robotics producers, the Commission frames Europe as a leader in 'physical AI'. Planned actions include Robotics Skills Qualification Centres, a Robotics Skills Booster building on projects such as EuRobin, and Sectoral Acceleration Pipelines linking research, testing, skills and deployment for high-impact sectors including advanced manufacturing. ADRA, the initiative's implementing partner, names it 'SPRINT Robotics' and describes its role as a 'super-integrator' connecting manufacturers and other end-users directly with technology providers, integrators and researchers, targeting the practical barriers that most often stall robotics adoption on a factory floor: high upfront cost, the difficulty of moving from simulation to real operating conditions, a lack of trusted performance evidence, interoperability gaps and vendor lock-in, and shortages of integration skills. The first Robotics Skills Qualification Centre pilot is planned at the Testing and Experimentation Facility (TEF) for Manufacturing in 2026.
