A new Horizon Europe call for proposals is open with a budget of €170.7 million and a deadline of 22 September 2026 at 17:00 CET. Several topics are relevant to agri-food, including fertilising and crop protection alternatives, biomass valorisation, circular packaging and new food ingredient sources. The call may interest SMEs, companies, researchers and support organisations developing bio-based solutions.

The 2026 call for proposals, identified as HORIZON-JU-CBE-2026, opened on 23 April 2026 with a total budget of €170.7 million and a submission deadline of 22 September 2026 at 17:00 CET. It supports Research and Innovation Actions, Innovation Actions, flagship Innovation Actions and Coordination and Support Actions under Horizon Europe rules. Topics with clear relevance for the agri-food transition include Safe and Sustainable by Design bio-based alternatives for fertilising and crop protection products (€20 million), diversification of nutritional food ingredient sources (€20 million), biotech routes for valorisation of residual biomass (€14 million) and films and coatings for circular packaging (€14 million).
