A new Flash Eurobarometer shows EU food and drink products enjoy a strong, growing reputation across 11 international markets, with quality as the top purchase driver. Weekly consumption is highest in the UAE (58%) and UK (50%), lower in Mexico (27%) and Japan (28%) — pointing to growth potential. 60% of non-consumers say they'd try EU products, and recent business missions to Japan and Thailand have already delivered concrete deals, with Mexico and India next in 2026-27.

A new Flash Eurobarometer across 11 markets shows EU food and drink products are gaining ground internationally, with quality as the leading purchase driver. Weekly consumption is strongest in the UAE (58%) and UK (50%), while Mexico (27%) and Japan (28%) show more room to grow. Awareness of EU quality labels is rising, though comprehension still needs work.

Among non-consumers, 60% say they'd be interested in trying EU products, with the strongest appetite in India, Indonesia and the UAE. This mirrors the success of the Commission's business missions: over 20% of delegates to Japan (2025) and 7% to Thailand (2026) have already closed deals, with nearly 90% of Thailand participants reporting new contacts.

New missions follow in 2026-27: Mexico in November 2026, and India in autumn 2027 — the latter building on the upcoming EU-India Free Trade Agreement and the Anuga Select India Fair in Mumbai.
