Almost €2 trillion, or 1.26% of the EU’s gross national income (GNI), that’s the Commission’s proposal, adopted on 3 September, to finance the EU’s policies for the 2028-2034 financial period.

On 3 September 2025, the Commission adopted a second package of sectoral proposals, completing the framework for the next long-term EU budget for 2028-2034.

 

Already on 16 July 2025, the Commission had presented its proposal for an ambitious and dynamic Multiannual Financial Framework (“MFF”) amounting to almost EUR 2 trillion(or 1.26% of the EU’s gross national income on average between 2028 and 2034).
