A new EIT Food and Dealroom report finds that Europe's 740+ VC-backed, women-founded agrifood companies are collectively worth over €10 billion, with enterprise value growing 4.7x since 2019, more than twice the rate of the wider agrifood sector. Women founders now account for 34% of newly launched agrifood startups, up from 17% a decade ago, though funding and scale-up gaps persist.

Women-founded agrifood companies have raised €2.7 billion in venture capital since 2019, making agrifood the fourth most-funded sector for female founders in Europe, above the cross-sector average. Activity is concentrated in Germany, France, Spain, Italy and the Netherlands, though early-stage momentum is growing across Southern and Eastern Europe, including Poland, Estonia and Bulgaria.
The report also points to where the gaps remain: later-stage funding and top outcomes are still comparatively rare for women-founded companies, and access to capital, networks and visibility continue to shape which startups scale. Alternative proteins, nutrition, supply chain management and regenerative agriculture were among the most-funded segments since 2019.
