The CHRISTA project (supported by Interreg Europe), which ran from April 1, 2016, to September 30, 2020, focused on leveraging cultural and natural heritage assets for sustainable tourism development. Operating at local, regional, national, and European levels, CHRISTA addressed the need for enhanced policies and practices in eco-cultural tourism through interregional collaboration. By tackling common challenges such as asset preservation, sustainable tourism deployment, and innovative policy approaches, the project aimed to protect and promote heritage assets for responsible tourism strategies.
