The Ecoregion SKAT project, which ran from January 1, 2020, to December 31, 2022, aimed to enhance ecotourism in the cross-border regions of Slovakia and Austria, specifically in Burgenland, Lower Austria, and the Bratislava Self-Governing Region. Funded entirely by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), the initiative focused on improving cooperation among national parks and protected areas, including Donau-Auen National Park and National Park Neusiedler See-Seewinkel. By raising public awareness of environmental protection and developing educational infrastructure for ecotourism, the project sought to unlock the area's potential for nature tourism and enhance the quality of existing services.
