Between January 2019 and October 2023, the Laona-Akamas Territorial Synergy of Museums & Educational Centres, led by the Pafos Regional Board of Tourism in Cyprus, united various museum and educational centers to foster sustainable cultural tourism. Located in the Akamas-Laona region, these centers showcased the rich biodiversity, geology, paleontology, and cultural heritage of the area, including the Akamas Rural Life Museum, Geology and Paleontology Information Centre, Lara Turtle Museum and Educational Centre, and Akamas Regional Avifauna and Flora Visitors Centre. This collaboration created a compelling heritage product, enticing visitors to explore the region's culture, history, and environment. The project, which received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation program, demonstrated successful synergy in tourism development and offered valuable insights for similar initiatives.
