The Styrian Iron Route, renowned for its mining and iron processing heritage centered around the active Erzberg ore mine, boasts various cultural attractions such as museums scattered throughout the region. To enhance the visibility and professionalism of its cultural offerings, a museum association, led by MUSEUMSVERBUND BETRIEBS Ges.m.b.H., Mag. Susanne Leitner-Böchzelt, was established in 2004. This initiative has not only increased engagement among local visitors and tourists but also facilitated better access to funding and knowledge exchange among cultural institutions.
