STAY project in 2022 is discovering real case study. After the COVID-19 lockdown, Antonio Rodríguez left his nursing job in Murcia to become a sheep shepherd and agrotourism operator in his hometown of El Cerezo, a small village in Santiago-Pontones, Jaén, Spain. He took over the family business in October 2019 and expanded it by setting up tourist flats, becoming the first registered agrotourism operator in Andalusia. By combining his passion for livestock farming with tourism, he revitalized the local economy, supported local businesses, and preserved cultural heritage. His business, La Pariera, espacio rural, thrives on word-of-mouth promotion and social media, attracting mainly Spanish tourists, and underscores the importance of diversification and community support in rural development.
