In 2022, the project, which receives co-funding from the EU, is investigating a case study about Tierras de Jaén, a fifth-generation family firm in the heart of Andalucía, Spain, that offers a distinctive fusion of history and innovation under the leadership of Fernando López García. In addition to producing premium extra virgin olive oil (EVOO) at their ancestral farm, Cortijo Las Huertas, the López García family has been leading the way in olive oil tourism since 2018. Under the auspices of Tierras de Jaén Olive Oil, S.L., the agrotourism endeavour provides guests with an opportunity to fully engage with the olive oil culture through guided tours of the historic olive mill and lodging in contemporary yet rustic rural settings. Tierras de Jaén embodies the changing travel industry with its strong emphasis on sustainability, authenticity, and creating an exceptional experience.
