NiMAC (Nicosia Municipal Arts Centre) in collaboration with the Nicosia Tourism Board (NTB) spearheaded an initiative in Nicosia, Cyprus, aiming to mobilize and inspire Cultural and Creative Industries (CCIs). This effort, initiated post-2013 economic crisis, recognizes the crucial role of CCIs in fostering a new economic model by revitalizing urban spaces and reigniting tourist interest. The Nicosia Open Up Festival, an inclusive event celebrating diverse artists and practices, serves as a catalyst for new creative businesses while prompting the review of municipal strategic plans, such as the substantial investment in Nicosia’s Creative Business Quarter, and policies by the Ministry of the Interior.
