The Tourism 4.0 TRL 3-6 Research Project, Slovenia’s largest publicly funded R&D initiative in the tourism sector, aimed to unlock innovation potential by fostering collaboration among all stakeholders in the smart tourism ecosystem. The project sought to create a collaborative tourism environment centered on local communities, facilitating data-driven strategic planning to enhance tourism’s positive impact. Running from September 2018 to August 2021, it aimed to develop a Tourism 4.0 platform that leverages disruptive technology to build trust and enable data exchange among stakeholders, thereby fostering new tourist applications, services, and processes while prioritizing user data privacy.
