The WUITIPS (Wildland-Urban-Interface Fire Touristic Infrastructures Protection Solutions) project, funded by the Union Civil Protection Mechanism (UCPM) programme, ran from 1 February 2023 to 31 January 2025, to promote a unified understanding of wildfire issues in tourist areas. The project focused on exploring, identifying, and assessing the vulnerabilities and effectiveness of risk mitigation measures in tourist facilities and the associated populations during forest fire emergencies in cross-border situations across the EU. Key outcomes included a harmonised EU guideline for implementing prevention and protection plans in tourist infrastructures, self-assessment tools and checklists for asset and people vulnerability, examples of product applications in pilot sites (Spain-France), and an engaged EU network of stakeholders.
