Launched on 21 April 2026, the new LIFE Calls invite applicants from across the EU and associated countries to submit projects that contribute to decarbonisation, cut the EU's strategic dependencies - particularly those linked to fossil fuels - and reinforce the robustness of European energy systems. Eligible activities span nature restoration, environmental protection, better quality of life, energy efficiency, storage solutions and the rollout of domestically produced renewable energy.
Several funding strands carry particular significance for the construction sector:
• Circular Economy and Zero Pollution - €79 million
• Climate Change Adaptation - €28 million
• Climate Change Mitigation - €28 million
• Clean Energy Transition - €85.5 million
Standard Action Projects (SAPs) must be submitted by 22 September 2026; timelines for other project categories differ and are listed on the EU Funding & Tenders Portal. Proposals may come from individual legal entities or from consortia of partners established in the EU or in countries associated with the LIFE Programme - applications from private individuals are not eligible.
For inspiration, applicants can explore previously funded initiatives in the LIFE project database, or contact their national LIFE National Contact Point for tailored guidance throughout the application process.
Full details and application materials are available on the LIFE Calls for proposals 2026 page.
