In July 2026, the European Commission announced the allocation of €134.9 million in grants to 15 infrastructure projects under the Public Sector Loan Facility (PSLF), a financial instrument of the Just Transition Mechanism. The funding supports investments in regions undergoing socio-economic transformation as part of the transition towards a climate-neutral economy.
The selected projects span a range of sectors, including transport, energy, public services, healthcare, education and urban development. Planned investments include railway and road infrastructure upgrades, improvements to public buildings and energy systems, the modernisation of water networks, and urban regeneration initiatives. Together, these projects are expected to contribute to sustainable regional development, improve access to public services and support economic diversification in the participating territories over the coming years.
