Horizon Europe Funds Digital Platforms for Whole-Life Carbon in Buildings

The Horizon Europe programme launched a funding call in May 2026, supporting the development of digital platforms that integrate carbon data into building assessment and certification tools. The call which was concluded in September will fund selected projects that improve the accuracy and interoperability of life cycle data on embodied and operational carbon across all building lifecycle stages.

The HORIZON-CL5-2026-09-D4-03 call, "Advanced data platforms to integrate whole life carbon in building information tools, assessments, and certification", falls under Horizon Europe Cluster 5 – Climate, Energy and Mobility. It supports digital data exchange platforms that integrate carbon information into building tools, assessments and certificates. The total budget is €15.75 million, with €5.25 million per project.

Projects that applied combined data from whole life carbon assessments, embodied flow databases, Digital Product Passports, Energy Performance Certificates, Smart Readiness Indicators, Building Renovation Passports and Digital Building Logbooks. Solutions must use advanced data analytics and recognized standards. They should also ensure interoperability with real-time digital twins and BIM-based models.
