The Buildings Performance Institute Europe (BPIE) has released the final Report of the EPBD.wise project, presenting recommendations to support Member States in the effective implementation of the 2024 Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD). The publication is based on three years of collaboration with public authorities, energy agencies, experts, and stakeholders across Bulgaria, Greece, Hungary, Poland, Romania, and Ukraine.

According to the report, the EPBD provides a key legislative framework for achieving the decarbonisation of Europe’s building stock by 2050. BPIE highlights the need for integrated national frameworks that combine regulation, planning, data management, financing mechanisms, technical assistance, social safeguards, and monitoring systems to ensure effective delivery of the Directive’s objectives. The findings aim to help Member States accelerate building renovation efforts and advance Europe’s long-term energy efficiency and climate goals.
