The report shows that while the EU population has remained broadly stable overall, deeper structural changes are affecting labour markets, pensions, healthcare, regional cohesion and housing demand. In relation to housing, demographic trends are linked to affordability pressures, changing household needs and territorial imbalances, particularly in regions facing depopulation or ageing populations. The publication also places these developments within the wider EU policy response, referring to tools and initiatives such as the Demography Toolbox and the European Affordable Housing Plan, and supports more informed action to help Member States adapt to these long-term changes.
