Located in one of the EU's outermost regions, the terminal combines passive design strategies - natural ventilation, optimised use of daylight and energy systems tailored to the island's climate - to operate efficiently in its tropical setting. With financial backing from the EU, the project advances sustainability in transport infrastructure, lowers energy demand, enhances passenger experience and reinforces climate resilience in remote European territories.
The case shows how EU funding can translate into innovative built environments that respond to specific regional contexts and accelerate the EU's green transition.
