The European Construction Industry Federation (FIEC) has published the results of the EU-funded SIDE-CIC project (Social ID Cards in the Construction Sector). Launched in 2023 and carried out jointly by FIEC and the European Federation of Building and Woodworkers (EFBWW), the project examines how existing national social ID card schemes in construction could be better understood and potentially interconnected.
The final report consists of several components: a mapping report covering 19 schemes in 17 countries plus local initiatives in Italy and Denmark, a legal feasibility study on interoperability within EU and national legal frameworks, and a technical feasibility study on connecting national schemes via a secure data exchange network. It also includes joint recommendations from FIEC and EFBWW and an executive summary. The Spanish “Tarjeta Profesional de la Construcción” is not covered in the feasibility studies and therefore its national confederation does not support the recommendations.
