In 2022, according to the EU Tourism Dashboard, foreign tourists accounted for an average of 43.1% of nights spent in accommodation establishments across the European Union. Among the countries most in demand among foreigners were Malta (92%), Cyprus (90.8%), Luxembourg (86.0%), and Greece (84.0%). In contrast, Germany, Poland, and Romania had the lowest foreign demand, with shares of nights spent by foreigners at 16.9%, 16.4%, and 14.2%, respectively. This indicates that most tourism demand in these countries is domestic, revealing both low dependency on international markets and limited capacity to attract foreign demand.
