According to the Statistics Office of Malta, in 2022, there were approximately 369,000 domestic tourists in Malta. This represents a 5.0% decrease compared to the previous year. Among these domestic travelers, around 50.0% were in the 25-44 age group, and their primary purpose for travel was holiday (accounting for 83.9%of all purposes). Interestingly, compared to the pre-pandemic level in 2019, only 237,237 Maltese citizens were traveling. Despite the decline in domestic tourism, other indicators remained relatively stable, suggesting the existence of a trend.
