According to Eurostat, in 2023, more than 678 million guest nights were spent in accommodation booked via online collaborative economy platforms such as Airbnb, Booking, Expedia Group, and Tripadvisor. This represents a 13.8% increase compared to 2022 and a substantial 32.6% increase compared to 2019. France accounted for the highest share of guest nights (22.5%), followed by Spain (19.5%). These figures indicate that platform tourism has rebounded and is now surpassing pre-pandemic levels, despite the significant impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on the tourism sector between 2020 and 2022.
