The UN Tourism, in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism of Viet Nam, hosted its first global conference on tourism for rural development in Hoi An, Vietnam, from 9-11 December 2024. This event gathered global leaders, policymakers, and industry pioneers to explore tourism's role in advancing rural communities. It showcased best practices and strategies for leveraging tourism to create positive local economic and social impacts, integrating agriculture and tourism to promote sustainability, and benefiting local communities. Additionally, it highlighted initiatives to engage young people in rural tourism businesses and discussed available funding opportunities for rural areas.
