The “Sustainable EU Tourism – Shaping the Tourism of Tomorrow” project presentation, held on April 18, 2024, outlines the European Commission’s initiative to support EU tourism destinations in becoming more sustainable and resilient, aligning with the Transition Pathway for Tourism. The initiative aims to address key challenges, share best practices, and promote collaboration among destinations. The presentation detailed the project’s goals, the scope and objectives of a survey for local and regional Destination Management Organizations (DMOs), the identification of best practices and key challenges, the establishment of a cooperation mechanism for destinations with shared challenges, and a communication toolkit for DMOs.
