The “Sustainable EU Tourism – Shaping the Tourism of Tomorrow” initiative, funded by the European Commission’s DG GROW, is set to run from December 2023 to December 2025. It designed to support EU tourism destinations in their journey towards greater sustainability and resilience, in accordance with the Transition Pathway for Tourism. The project focuses on identifying key challenges, collecting best practices for sustainable and resilient tourism, highlighting local communities across the EU, and encouraging collaborations among destinations with similar challenges. So far, the project has organized a survey, receiving 224 responses from destinations across all 27 EU Member States, to analyze tourism impacts and develop replicable best practices.
