Catena-X is an initiative aiming to establish a standardized and secure data exchange platform for the automotive industry. We support the development in collaboration with the German Association of the Automotive Industry (VDA). The aim is to drive digital transformation and innovation in the automotive sector. As decentral dataspace Catena-X addresses several use cases – one of the use cases is product carbon footprint – interoperable data formats were standardized as well as a rulebook was developed on how to calculate a product carbon footprint in the automotive industry. Another use is circular economy: an open-source battery passport was developed as well as the corresponding data formats to request the information. Catena-X is focusing on the development of open-source software and on the standardization of data formats and rulebooks. The association is currently also working on the internationalization by establishing hubs in other regions.
