The Hubs4Circularity is one of the impact initiatives defined in Processes4Planet SRIA 2050, implemented by A.SPIRE. The seed of this initiative is the fact that the EIIs can act as hubs through their capacity to reintroduce bulk amounts of waste transformed into secondary resources into the materials production system. The aim is to upcycle both industrial and urban waste. The H4Cs provide a clear systemic perspective since the different actors of the ecosystem of a given area need to collaborate and co-invest to generate a full new paradigm of circularity. Chemical sector plays an important role in this area due to its high capacity for industrial-urban symbiosis. Moreover, chemical industries are often clustered in given areas what maximises the potential to close the loops of different types of waste and to develop circular at scale H4Cs. A call to support H4Cs is published yearly in P4Planet’s topics within HEU. The progress of all projects, including the H4Cs, is monitored biannually. The results are to be included in the Partnership’s Full Report. The first full report is on-going and results will be ready by the end of 2023 or early 2024.
