The Group of Seven (G7), in collaboration with the OECD, has released a policy paper on leveraging Artificial Intelligence (AI) to foster innovation and sustainability in the tourism sector. Published in November 2024 after the first G7 Tourism Ministers' meeting focused on this sector, the paper discusses AI's applications in enhancing visitor experiences, improving accessibility and engagement, boosting operational efficiency, and fostering sustainable practices. The paper also addresses the challenges and risks associated with AI adoption, including data privacy, job displacement, and ethical considerations. The goal is to provide guidance for policymakers, businesses, tourists, and other stakeholders to responsibly integrate AI technologies in tourism.
