The BLUE TOURISM project seeks to address current challenges by training future local advisers to help small tourism providers in watercourse regions become more sustainable and competitive. To achieve this goal, the project published educational resource packages, offering tailored training with competence area guidance, tutorials, hands-on resources, practical tips, and useful readings.
The fourth adviser resource package, published in March 2023, focuses on competitiveness and sustainable local business development. It aims to define sustainable competitiveness, differentiate ESG (Environmental, Social, and Corporate Governance) criteria from CSR, link ESG to SDGs, show ESG’s relevance for small tourism providers, outline destination management’s (DM) strategic role, connect competitiveness with social responsibility in local development, advise on ESG benefits for small tourism businesses, and raise awareness of sustainable business techniques for local tourism competitiveness. The full educational resource is available on the left-hand side of the platform for anyone interested.
