The Sparkassen-Tourismusbarometer Saarland (Saarland Savings Banks Tourism Barometer) is an annual report that monitors and analyses tourism development in Saarland and its districts. Established in 2004, it is a joint initiative of the Finanzgruppe Sparkassenverband Saar and the Saarland Ministry of Economic Affairs, supported by dwif-Consulting GmbH.

The 2024 edition, titled "Investitionen gestalten Zukunft – Perspektiven für den Hotelmarkt" ("Investments Shape the Future – Perspectives for the Hotel Market"), highlights:

  • A record 3.25 million overnight stays in 2023, despite numerous challenges and uncertainties in 2024
  • A strong focus on strategic investment and innovation in the hospitality sector

The barometer provides practical recommendations for improving infrastructure, marketing, and competitiveness, while also identifying structural changes and early warning signs.

As a continuous monitoring tool, the report supports temporal, regional, and sector-specific comparisons, making it a valuable resource for strategic decision-making and marketing in the tourism sector.
