The European Parliament and Council established Regulation (EU) 2022/868, also referred to as the Data Governance Act, on May 30, 2022. This regulation is applicable throughout the European Economic Area (EEA). This regulation establishes a framework for data governance, including rules for data sharing and reuse, particularly for data held by public sector bodies. It was disseminated through official EU channels and publications. This initiative is crucial as it aims to enhance data availability, foster innovation, and ensure secure data flows, thereby supporting the digital economy and benefiting EU citizens and businesses.
