The European Commission has up a proposal for a Green Claims Directive in March 2023. This proposal seeks to ensure reliable information about the sustainability of products and counter firms' deceptive environmental claims. It attempts to safeguard customers from greenwashing and encourage wise shopping choices by defining precise standards for environmental branding and claims. The idea contributes to a circular and green EU economy by requiring businesses to support their claims with solid, verifiable, and science-based evidence.
