Decision No 565/2014/EU was issued jointly by the European Parliament and the Council on May 15, 2014. With this judgement, the system for policing individuals at the external borders is made simpler. Its foundation is the unilateral recognition of some documents as being equal to national visas by Romania, Bulgaria, Croatia, and Cyprus. These documents permit travel through or planned stays of up to 90 days during a 180-day period on their territory. This decision maintains security while streamlining border control procedures and improving mobility.
