ELIA, the European League of Institutes of the Arts, is a network representing more than 280 higher education institutions focused on art and creativity. The network spans across 54 countries, 47 of which are European (all EU-27 are present). ELIA engages its members via multi-disciplinary working groups, cross-hierarchical collaboration, knowledge exchange platforms, and international partnerships. ELIA promotes and fosters innovation, advocacy, and transnational cooperation through research projects, events, and policy papers.

ELIA is an extensive network of higher education institutions in the arts, representing over 290 members, including over 300,000 students. The members cover a variety of art disciplines including visual arts, performing arts, design, fashion, and media.

The strategic focus of the organisation is in alignment with the European Higher Education Area, the Erasmus Plus Programme, and the Creative Europe Programme. Amongst its action areas are advocacy for education in the Arts and Creativity, eco-responsibility, digitality and new technologies, careers in the Cultural and Creative Industries (CCIs), diversity and inclusion.

ELIA is a charitable organisation, having gained the Algemeen Nut Beogende Instellingen (ANBI) status in 2020 by the Dutch fiscal office.
