Airlines for Europe (A4E) has criticised a proposed EU amendment that would make a trolley cabin bag mandatory for all passengers. Scheduled for a vote on 24 June 2025, the amendment aims to standardise hand luggage dimensions and eliminate associated fees.
According to Travel Tomorrow, both A4E and the International Air Transport Association (IATA) argue that the regulation would infringe on airlines' commercial freedom and could lead to increased ticket prices or operational complications. The two organisations are urging the European Parliament to reject the proposal, emphasising the importance of preserving consumer choice.
