The European Commission and EU member states have officially approved the first payment request from the Netherlands’ Recovery and Resilience Plan. This approval, granted on September 16, 2024, allows for the disbursement of €1.3 billion. The Netherlands submitted this request on May 24, 2024, and it includes 30 milestones and objectives, such as enhancing industrial CO2 taxation, agreements on new housing projects, investments in quantum technology, and providing skills training for workers after COVID-19 crisis. This is the first of five payment requests, with a total of €5.4 billion allocated to the Netherlands from the Recovery and Resilience Facility (The original piece available only in Dutch).
