Paris has introduced a dedicated car-sharing lane on its busy ring road during rush hour, aiming to reduce traffic congestion and pollution, according to Guardian News & Media Limited. The lane, which began its trial phase in March 2025, will also be accessible to public transport, taxis, emergency vehicles, and cars carrying disabled individuals. This initiative forms part of a broader programme launched by city hall in 2014 to tackle pollution and improve air quality. However, the pilot has faced backlash from critics, who argue it could worsen traffic conditions, prompting the launch of a petition opposing the move.
