On 4 July 2025, the World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC) reported that Portugal’s Travel & Tourism sector has reached a new peak, continuing its upward trend following the results of 2024.

According to the latest data, the sector is projected to contribute over €62.7 billion to the national economy in 2025, representing 21.5% of GDP. This marks a 38% increase compared to the previous peak in 2019. The WTTC also indicates the potential for further growth in the coming years.
